24/03/2569

Bangkok, 23 March 2026 – Thailand Post Co., Ltd., in collaboration with the Department of Intellectual Property, is moving forward to systematically elevate Thailand’s Geographical Indication (GI) products to a wider market. This initiative covers the entire value chain—from product development and value enhancement to expanding distribution channels through Thailand Post and ThailandPostMart. It also enables entrepreneurs to ship GI products at special rates, helping drive the community economy while generating sustainable income for farmers, producers, and local entrepreneurs.

Dr. Danan Suphattraphan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Thailand Post Co., Ltd., stated:
“Thailand Post, as the nation’s logistics and delivery service provider, is ready to support the expansion of Thai GI products into broader markets. We provide support in standardized packaging, logistics, and distribution channels to help reduce costs and improve efficiency for entrepreneurs. This collaboration with the Department of Intellectual Property spans both online and offline sales channels through Thailand Post platforms such as ThailandPostMart, Post Café, and retail points at post offices nationwide. Additionally, we offer special shipping rates to ensure GI products reach consumers conveniently, quickly, and with quality assurance.”

“Furthermore, Thailand Post supports GI producers and entrepreneurs in accessing integrated warehousing and fulfillment services, including product pickup directly from production sources. This ensures standardized shipping processes and efficient traceability. We also provide certified packaging solutions to maintain product quality throughout delivery. In addition, joint promotional activities, marketing campaigns, and sales initiatives will be carried out to enhance awareness and expand market opportunities for Thai GI products across all dimensions. The initial pilot will focus on 38 GI products in the central region, with plans to expand to other regions continuously, aiming to elevate Thai GI products to international standards and build consumer confidence,” Dr. Danan added.

Mrs. Oramon Sapthaweetham, Director-General of the Department of Intellectual Property, revealed:
“The Department of Intellectual Property and the Ministry of Commerce place great importance on enhancing the potential of GI products, which represent local identity linked to geographical factors such as soil, water, climate, and community wisdom. These elements contribute to their distinctive quality and unique stories. Currently, Thailand has 254 registered GI products, generating over THB 115 billion in economic value. Promoting marketing channels through events such as GI Market is a key mechanism to enhance competitiveness and expand opportunities for GI products to reach urban consumers and high-purchasing-power markets.”

“On this occasion, the Department of Intellectual Property also announced a collaboration with two key partners—the Bioeconomy Development Office (Public Organization) or BEDO, and Thailand Post Co., Ltd.—through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This partnership aims to promote GI products in a systematic and comprehensive manner. The integrated collaboration will strengthen Thai GI products in all aspects, including development, marketing, and logistics, improving product quality and standards while reducing costs for entrepreneurs, enabling them to compete effectively and generate sustainable income for local communities,” Mrs. Oramon added.

GI Market 2026 will be held from 23–29 March 2026, from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, at the promotion area on G Floor, Central Pinklao. Under the concept “Curating the Best of Thai Local Products: GI Standards to Global Value,” the event showcases the potential and premium quality of Thai GI products. Over 70 vendors from across the country will participate, offering a wide selection of GI products.

The public is warmly invited to support Thai GI products, explore unique local goods with authentic stories directly from their origins, and encourage farmers and local entrepreneurs to preserve their cultural identity while sustainably developing their community products.
